Confession
To hear another, one must step into their light.
The sound installation “Confession” is an investigation of acculturation processes through the personal stories of people who were forced to leave Belarus and find themselves in Lithuania. This project examines the transitional state, the search for oneself in a new cultural environment, and the internal experiences of adaptation.
The project consists of ten anonymous monologues. The participants’ responses are “confessions” filled with various emotions, reflections, and contradictions. These are stories about searching for a new home, facing the unknown, and trying to preserve oneself ina new environment. These monologues create a polyphonic sound fabric of space, where each voice is not only a story about moving, but also an act of recognition, an expression of vulnerability, and an attempt to understand one’s own experience.
